A second banknote printing facility run by the Bank of Mexico opened on November 7, almost 50 years after the first facility began operations. The central bank started the project in 2010 following signs the country’s existing facility was reaching production capacity. This new factory will allow the Bank of Mexico to keep up with the increased demand for banknotes, governor Alejandro Díaz de León said in a statement.
